This is another of the many miltary ceremonies in South America which I have seen over the past three years. By looking at these pictures we can get a better understanding of why there are so many wars in the world, why South America has had so many miitary dictatoships, and why it has such a bad education system. These pictures are very similar to ones I have on the student police in Peru. Though there are no student police here, the idea is very similar. Young people all around the world are taught to become little servants of the state, and to believe it is ok, and even a good to kill and die in the name of your particular country. These children were not at all interested in what the military leader had to say, but it is likely that when they are parents they will forget how bored they were and they will believe that it is a good thing to make their own children go to schools where they are obligated to go to these kinds of ceremonies where they will be forced to stand still, listen to boring speeches and sing the national song.
