Her mother hangs up the phone when people call for her. She says "who is calling? Then says "she's not here" and hangs up. Even when Eli tells her she is expecting a call, she does the same thing.

Once Eli said "I am going to get my own cell phone and then you won't be able to hang up on the people who call me." Her mother mockingly said, "How are you going to buy a cell phone when you don't have any money?"

Eli also told me that

- she doesn't have a key to the house

- doesn't have her own bank account

- can't use the telephone in her mother's house to make calls

But the mother has enough money that she is building a second home in another city.

Whenever Eli even wants one sol, for example to use the Internet, she has to ask her mother.
