Frequently Asked Questions
| EQ Tests | There really are no EQ tests, no matter what any one
says. And there are only two tests which I believe
deserve to be called tests of emotional intelligence, the
MEIS and the MSCEIT. For a discussion of those tests see EI tests As far as all the websites which claim to have EQ and EI tests, most of them are meant for little more than amusement. Most of the time the correct answer is easy to see. Other times the it is merely an arbitrary choice by whoever wrote the website. There is just one "emotional intelligence test" which I did find interesting even though it is more of a general personality and self-esteem test. http://www.queendom.com/tests/iq/emotional_iq_r2_access.html If you are interested in a few questions which I formed for my 1996 book, click here. |
| Additional Information | I don't have any additional information to send. This is mostly because I want to freely share my ideas, so I already put nearly everything I write about EQ on-line. Also, I am often traveling or camping somewhere remote, so sending additional information isn't practical. |

| What Can I Do To Raise My EQ or EE? | The first step is to start identifying your own emotions. Use my feeling word list to help you. Then take responsibility for them. This is much harder. Then learn what compassion and empathy is and try to practice it daily. This is easier if you have done the first two steps, probably impossible if you haven't. Also, read everything I have written about emotions. Attend support groups. Find a safe place, even if it just your journal, to express your true feelings. Read emotional literature, watch emotional movies. Label the feelings being acted out. Let yourself feel your emotions. Avoid people who invalidate you. For more, see my personal growth page |
