Steve,You do an immense public service
with your web pages.
The
section on invalidation reminds me of one of the
most popular (and most affluent) so-called
motivational speaker on the circuit: Larry
Winget. He is the author of "Shut Up, Stop
Whining, and Get A Life!" (3
invalidations in 1 title, how about that?)
Businesses pay him a mint to whip their galley
slaves into submission. (At my previous
job, his video speech, "I'll Try To Be Nicer
If You'll Try To Be Smarter" was required
viewing.)
I checked
out "Shut Up, Stop Whining, and Get A
Life" from the library recently. I
found "words of wisdom" such as these:
"If
you are unhappy, unsuccessful, sick, or
broke, please just keep it to yourself.
The rest of us do not want or need to hear
about it, so do not feel compelled to
share" (p.10)
"Are
you trashing my support group?"
Yes I am...If you are part of a support group
where everyone gets together and wallows in
the misery of each other's problems, then get
the hell out of that group now! Dump the
whiney losers and find some real
friends." (p.96)
"People
are unsuccessful for 3 reasons:
1. They're stupid. 2.
They're lazy 3. They just don't
give a damn."
Or, to
spread his hateful memes even further, you can go
to his web site and send an e-postcard with
slogans like:
"If
your life sucks, it's because you suck."
"Hey, your sales suck! Know
why? You suck."
"I Don't Care!"
I can see
how crap like what Winget spouts off can cause
someone to lose the last glimmers of hope they
may have been clinging to. Maybe the
popularity of Winget helps to explain why so many
people in business are so cold and heartless (or
maybe he just echoes what the heartless bastards
who run corporate America really think about the
masses.)
Anyway,
you have a good site.
