Caring, Empathy, Understanding

As corporations like Google and Apple get bigger and bigger, I believe it gets increasingly hard for the employees to show what could be called "CEU" - Caring, Empathy and Understanding.

Since it is generally accepted that the culture of a company mirrors the personal feelings and vaues of the CEO, it i useful to plant the seeds of these question in our minds:

Does the CEO show, and value, CEU?

A similar question is useful in relation to a company's public image, for example, do the customer service representatives show CEU?

I thought of this when I was thinking about the answers given out on a Google Groups forum. I had forgotten which email address I had used for one of my youtube accounts so I did some searching and found the forum. Because Google is now one of the world's best known, most profitable, most powerful and influential, and because they publically state that they want to have a unique culture I believe it is important to closely watch what Google and its employees are doing. And to help them when we can by providing helpfulf feedback.

In any case, here are some of the answers given on the forum in response to the question of how to access an old YouTube account if you can't remember which email address you used to create it:

 

Not possible. You must have either the password or access to the address of record (to reset the password). There are no other options.

....And yes, accounts that can no longer be accessed just sit there, basically forever. There are a bajillion of 'em.

Same solution; Forgot Username, provide your known addresses, if any are correct they will send an e-mail to it.

In any case, YOU must provide the addresses, there is no provision to tell you account information regarding an account you do not have the required credentials to access.

So I wondered: How:cared about, empathized with an understood (CEU) would a person feel seeing those answers?

I believe it is in everyone's best interests to serious consider these questions, and to include them as part of a business and customer service model.

I forgot my password and my old Email Address

Hi my Username is danield41 and I have never used my account in a few years and I forgot my password and my old Email Address that went with it so I would really appreciate it if you could let me keep my old Username with my new Email Address on Gmail and Just let me change my password.

can I at least know the email address my account was on ? maybe I can remember my password to that email
and then finish this whole discussion.
what would happen to my account, there is nothing no videos posted. nothing at all
will it just be there for ever or will it eventually be deleted ? cause I don't see why I cant reset my account
if I'm never using it, and its just sitting there doing absolutely nothing

You can click "forgot username" then you can enter emails you own and eventually one will say sent and go check that email for the username

JDoors That "forgot username" form is how you determine if your e-mail is attached to a YouTube account. And yes, accounts that can no longer be accessed just sit there, basically forever. There are a bajillion of 'em.
