Wikipedia Blackout

If you have not seen it by now, Wikipedia is going to stop service in English for 24 hours on Jan 18 to protest some new proposed American laws which will hurt the freedom on the Internet. Here is one thing from the Wikipedia site:

.... Wikimedia projects are organizing and summarizing and collecting the world’s knowledge. We’re putting it in context, and showing people how to make to sense of it.

But that knowledge has to be published somewhere for anyone to find and use it. Where it can be censored without due process, it hurts the speaker, the public, and Wikimedia. Where you can only speak if you have sufficient resources to fight legal challenges, or, if your views are pre-approved by someone who does, the same narrow set of ideas already popular will continue to be all anyone has meaningful access to.

I am glad to see wikipedia taking a strong stand. I believe the USA has already become close to a police state or a totalitarian country. I believe we all need to protest in every way possible and let the controlling politicians, lawmakers and bureaucrats know they will lose their jobs if they keep up what they are doing to what freedoms are still left in America.
