Special Section on Emotional Intelligence In Asia

For the past two weeks I have been in Asia and have had meetings with several people to discuss how we could work together to promote a socially responsible vision of emotional intelligence (EI) and provide training to students, parents and organizations. From our initial meetings I feel very optimistic. Though we are still in the early stages of our collaboration I feel confident enough to announce my association with the following people and organizations:

Raymond Tan Ean Ser, Line Crossers

Granville d'Souza, Peak Performers

One of our ideas is to create this special Asian section for my site. In this section I will post articles to help inform and educate the Asian community on EI issues. I'll also post my own relevant observations and personal experiences in Asia.

Our long term vision includes helping Asia more fully develop the potential of its youth as well as provide meaningful and profitable work environments. Other specific goals are to:

• Train future leaders in peaceful conflict resolution
• Clarify the sometimes conflicting information about EI
• Help prevent youth suicide
• Influence national educational policies
• Create EI training centers throughout Asia
• Help change social values towards a more emotionally healthy ordering

To help us get started, we are seeking

• Students volunteers to write articles and do research
• Parents, teenagers, teachers and managers who are willing to try out out ideas.
