Freedom, Equality and Emotional Intelligence

Thomas Jefferson said all men are created equal. But I disagree. Violence hurts some of us more than it hurts others. Seeing someone kill an animal hurts some of us more than it hurts others.

If you live in a country where violence and killing animals to eat them, or for sport, is common and accepted by the majority, and you are not free to leave and live in another country where such things are not accepted, then you are probably going to suffer.

Further, if you are suffering and you are getting no emotional support from anyone around you, you are probably going to suffer even more. You will probably be in even more pain if you care about things no one else cares about.

You will probably feel alone. You may feel suicidal.

But that doesn't mean you are not of value to the world and it doesn't mean you are not emotionally intelligent.
