| EQI.org Home | England | Society | Peru - not finished America Religious Beliefs as a Requirement for Voting in Early US History "Americans are sick people" -- I was born and raised in the USA. I feel extremely disillusioned by the government. I was abused in the USA sexually, emotionally and physically. I have a lot of negative feelings towards America and I believe it is like a cancer spreading around the world. I believe Americans in general are in denial, unaware and uninformed. I believe it is a very sick, dysfunctional culture. I believe a lot of the fault and problems can be traced directly back to the British culture which obviously affected America a lot. (See "Let's Blame The British" There are many good people in America, many good ideas, but I believe the entire culture needs to change for the sake of the world's mental and physical health. I have travelled around the world now, visiting over 50 countries. I believe I speak with a lot of authority, so please take what I have to say seriously, even if you feel uncomfortable with it or defensive or offended by it. S. Hein |

to forget or lose... Why would ninety-three Senators agree to allow our military to arrest and detain American citizens---on American soil---then deny them the right to challenge the legality of their detention in an open court of law? If you havent heard the latest: another terrorist attack has been perpetrated against the American people---only this time it was carried out by our own Congress. As the National Defense Authorization Bill for 2012 slithers its way towards a president who has promised to veto it if it still has this knee-capping of habeas corpus provision---only the blind and naïve will ask: Is this really happening in the land of the free? Have they even been paying attention to what our government has already done since 9-11? Wars of aggression. Torture. Targeted assassinations. Is it not disgraceful enough that we still have thousands of so-called enemy combatants rotting away in our foreign prisons---without ever having been convicted of any crimes---let alone charged? Any civilized society that can justify that will (in due time) surely justify using the same measures against its own people. Why did we ever think it could be otherwise? from commondreams.org |
