Parents Who Kill Their Children

Many people mistakenly believe that all parents automatically love and protect their children just because they are parents. These stories, however, dramatically show this is far from true.

While these are stories of parents who actually kill their own children, we at EQI know there are infinitely more who emotionally abuse their children and teenagers. These stories never get reported in the daily news. We present these stories to help destroy the myth that parents can automatically be trusted by society to provide healthy environments for their offspring and that therefore all parents should be given automatic legal power over children and teens until some arbitrary age such as 18.

Monday, 6 February, 2012

Murshidabad (West Bengal), Enraged by the continuous crying of his infant daughter, a man allegedly flung the two-month-old baby down a drain resulting in her death.

“Mujibur Sheikh, 32, a mason, was at his home and got irritated by the continuous crying of his baby. He asked the mother to calm the baby, but she failed. Enraged, he threw the baby into a drain which killed her instantly.”

The baby, named Munnivara Khatoon, was the third girl child of Sheikh who was unhappy with another female child in the family.

Susan Smith Kills Her Two Sons

From Wikipedia

Susan Leigh Vaughan Smith is an American woman sentenced to life in prison for murdering her children.

Born in South Carolina, and a former student of the University of South Carolina Union, she was convicted on July 22, 1995 of murdering her two sons, 3-year-old Michael Daniel Smith, and 14-month-old Alexander Tyler Smith,

The case gained worldwide attention shortly after it developed, due to her claiming that a black man stole her car and kidnapped her sons. She later claimed that she suffered from mental health issues that impaired her judgment.

On October 25, 1994, Smith initially reported to police that she had been carjacked by a black man who drove away with her sons still in the car. She made tearful pleas on television for the rescue and return of her children. A Usenet chain letter circulated in the following days, asking Internet users to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

However, following an intensive, heavily publicized investigation and a nationwide search, Smith confessed nine days later to letting her car roll into a nearby lake, drowning her children inside.

She allegedly wanted to discard her children so that she might resume an affair with a wealthy local man who had no interest in a "ready-made" family.

It was disclosed in her trial that Smith was molested in her teens by her stepfather, who admitted that he had molested her when she was a teenager and had consensual sex with her as an adult. Her biological father committed suicide when she was 6 years old and she very rarely had a stable home life. At 13, she attempted suicide. After graduating from high school in 1989, she made a second attempt.[8]

While in prison, two guards have been punished for having sex with Smith: Lt. Houston Cagle and Capt. Alfred R. Rowe, Jr.

Parental "Discipline" A Leading Cause of Child Deaths

In the first few pages of his book, Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman has this quote

For murder victims under twelve, says a report, 57 percent of the murderers are their parents or stepparents. In almost half the cases, the parents say they were "merely trying to discipline the child." The fatal beatings were prompted by "infractions" such as the child blocking the TV, crying, or soiling diapers. - Page x

Death by "Diiscipline" in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Here is a news story from the USA. The reporter says a boy was a victim of vicious abuse. A police officer says it was "discipline." This is included under Parents Who Kill Their Children, since the murderer was the boyfriend of the mother. Boyfriends often assume all the "rights" of a father, including the "right" to punish, "discipline," order around, hit, beat, spank, smack, control etc.

An 11-year-old Pittsburgh boy suffered nine hours of vicious abuse from his mother's boyfriend before dying of his injuries, all because he failed to vacuum the apartment, police said Sunday.

Anthony Bush was watching Donovan McKee while his mother was at work on Saturday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

The 29-year-old savagely beat the boy for failing to clean up.

"Bush disciplined the child by beating him with various objects found in the apartment," Homicide Lt. Daniel Herrmann told the Post-Gazette.

Police said Bush used several wooden sticks on McKee, snapping the wood in the process. He then made the young boy pick up the pieces.

At one point, Bush used a needle and thread to close a gash he made in McKee's knee, according to WTAE 4 News.

When McKee's mother returned around 11:40 p.m., she called authorities to report that her boyfriend had beaten her son and that the child was unresponsive, police said.

Authorities arrived and found the child had suffered a head wound and had no pulse...

‘Beaten to death by his mother’
Boy, 7, murdered and body burned, jury told

By JOHN COLES

AN EVIL mum beat her seven-year-old son to death and set fire to his body to cover up the murder, a court heard yesterday.

Sara Ege used to thrash Yaseen so much she could not recall if she’d hit him on the day he died, jurors were told.

Police at first thought the boy’s death in July 2010 was a tragic accident. But a post mortem revealed the lad had broken ribs, a fractured arm and a broken finger, Cardiff Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor Ian Murphy told jurors: “When the smoke had cleared it emerged that Yaseen was dead before the fire had started. He had suffered significant abdominal injuries that were the cause of his death. There were multiple injuries — including fractures — which were non-accidental.

“The fire was started deliberately in the rear bedroom near where his body was found.

“He had been set on fire and dragged on to the landing.”

The court heard Ege, 31, was arrested after lighter fuel was found on her clothing.

Mr Murphy added: “When interviewed by police she admitted she had been violent to Yaseen for a year.

“She said she had beaten him harshly with a stick on his back like a dog on many occasions.

“Asked if she had beat him that day she said: ‘I hit him most of the time. I can’t remember’.”

The court heard the blow that killed Yaseen was delivered some hours before he died — and Ege did nothing to help him.

Mr Murphy said: “She made no attempt to seek the medical attention he so obviously needed. He clearly suffered terribly. She started the fire to hide what she had done.”

Yaseen’s body was found on the landing of the burning house in Canton, Cardiff, and attempts to save him were in vain.

The court heard the boy had missed school on the day he died and his parents blamed his absence on the fact he ‘didn’t have a teddy bear’ for a school teddy bear picnic party.

Ege denies murder and her husband Yousuf, 38, a taxi driver, denies causing or allowing the death of a child for failing to stop his wife’s alleged beatings.

Mr Murphy said: “The mother was cruel and violent. The father knew about the violence.

“He saw the evidence of the catalogue of injuries suffered by his son but did nothing to stop the pain and suffering received at the hands of his wife.”
